Mr. Gerber serves as chair of The Foundation’s Israel Grants Committee. He is a Wexner Heritage fellow; a founding member of the Academy for Jewish Religion, a post-denominational seminary training rabbis, cantors and chaplains; and a founding funder of LimmudLA. After serving as a Board and Executive Committee member at Beth Jacob Congregation, Mr. Gerber remains an active member of the congregation. Together with Michael Medved and Rabbi Daniel Lapin, he and his wife co-founded the Pacific Jewish Center on the Venice boardwalk in 1977. He is a founding member of the Bridge School, a nonprofit organization in the Bay Area that serves severely handicapped children by transitioning them from the sheltered, protective, remedial environment to a mainstream school. He received his undergraduate and post-graduate degrees from the University of Cape Town in South Africa, and is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon (the international economics honors society).
